Medicaid

Medicaid is a program that provides health care services to individuals that meet the requirements for income, resources and citizenship. Individuals may apply for Medicaid at any local DFCS office, by mail, telephone, fax, e-mail, or at designated agencies. Select here for more information.

PeachCare for Kids®

PeachCare for Kids® offers free to low cost health insurance to uninsured, eligible children living in Georgia. The program provides comprehensive health care to children through the age of 18 who do not qualify for Medicaid and live in households with incomes at or below 247% of the federal poverty level. Food Stamps (SNAP)

The Food Stamps (SNAP) program also known as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is a federally funded program that provides monthly benefits to low-income households to help pay for the cost of food. A household may be one person living alone, a family, or several unrelated individuals living together who routinely purchase and prepare meals together. Anyone may apply for Food Stamps benefits. Child Care

Subsidized child care in Georgia is provided through the Childcare and Parent Services (CAPS) program to help low-income families afford quality child care. Select here for more information.

Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)

Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), is a monthly cash assistance program for low-income eligible families with children up to age 18. Cooperation with Georgia Department of Human Services Division of Child Support Services is a requirement of receiving TANF benefits unless good cause exists. Select here for more information.

Women, Infants and Children (WIC)

The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Supplemental Nutrition Program is a federally-funded health and nutrition program for:

  • Infants and Children age 1 to 5 (including foster children)
  • Pregnant Women
  • Breastfeeding Mothers (up to 1 year)
  • Postpartum Women (up to 6 months)
